How to Apply for Indian Passport Renewal in Kuwait — Step by Step

  1. Fill the online application. Since 17 October 2025, all passport applications are accepted only through the online portal. Center staff can assist with form filling and photographs.
  2. Visit an ICAC center in person. Physical presence is mandatory for identity verification, document verification and signature/thumb impression. Minor children (except newborns) must also be present.
  3. Carry originals + copies — current passport, Civil ID, and supporting documents for your category.
  4. Photograph: ICAO-standard photo (white background, face 80–85% of frame) is strictly enforced since 1 September 2025; centers offer photography service.
  5. Pay: category fee + KD 0.750 ICWF + service fee.
  6. Track online. Without prior police verification, embassy processing takes a few working days plus dispatch; with police verification, allow up to 30 days.

Tatkal (urgent) passport in Kuwait

Tatkal applications without prior police verification are accepted at the centers with an undertaking stating the urgency, plus copies of three photo-ID documents at your Indian address (two for minors). The additional Tatkal fee of KD 45 is paid in cash at the Embassy after approval. Once accepted under Tatkal, the passport is dispatched within 3 working days.

Short Validity Passport warning

If your Kuwait residency (iqama), entry visa or visit visa has expired on the date of application, you'll be issued a Short Validity Passport instead of a full 10-year passport. If possible, complete your iqama renewal before applying.
